WHAT IS ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY?
College/UTT AT Accommodations
The University of Trinidad and Tobago adheres to the Special Education laws amended as well as other federal laws prohibiting discrimination against individuals with disabilities. The University has made accommodations and modifications for all students as they cater for the inclusive environment,as such, they have implemented Assistive Technologies to facilitate their students. Some of these Assistive Technologies includes:
- Accommodations for hearing impairments can include photocopies of lecture notes, written assignments, caption on videos, and in class presentation/demonstrations
- Accommodation for specific learning disability and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder can include photocopies of lecture notes, powerpoint presentation, alternative assessments (presentations, written, project), use of personal computer for writing.
- Accommodations for mobility impairment can include accessible locations, including moving such spaces in classes being made accessible for short-term mobility impairment such as elevators and ramps, wider hallways.
