A.T. TOOLS-LOW TECH, MID TECH, HIGH TECH
Low-tech assistive technology (AT) and adaptations are cheap and easy strategies that families and professionals can use to increase their children’s participation in daily activities and routines. It is usually low priced/affordable or easy to make by using disposable or inexpensive materials. It requires no electrical outlet, software or any other technical devices. Low tech devices can be used and manipulated by the individual independently. For example: Bowling ramp, velcro handles, larger volleyball, large print, lower basketball hoop, pencil grippers, larger printed sticky keys for keyboards, keyguards, picture icon book etc.
MID TECH
Mid tech Assisted devices are equipments that needs batteries to operate and may or may not need some training to utilize them. Examples include Laser pointer, Beep box, Beep ball, Talking pedometer/watch, Toys to knock over pins, Manual wheelchair, Multi-step/level switch, Switches that talk, Switches that activate objects
Assisted devices or equipment that are electronic in nature, have multi-step processes to utilize them and may or may not need specialized training to utilize them. Examples include Beep baseball kit, Hand crank bikes, High tech prosthesis, Wii gaming system, Power wheelchair, Sport specific wheelchair, Voice output communication devices, Computers/laptops/tablets, FM System

- Automatic Page Turners for help with reading physical copies of books or magazines
- Additional technologies, such as speech generating devices, are available to support independent communication for people with physical disabilities who also experience difficulties with speech
- Integrated Powered Mobility Controls – allowing power wheelchair controls to be used for controlling not just the wheelchair itself, but also for operating a computer and/or a speech generating device
- Screen enlargement software if the user also has visual impairments
- Software for converting print documents to electronic versions, avoiding the need to be able to turn pages or move papers
